S(w)ing

This kinetic public artwork project was a collaborative effort involving multiple individuals and companies. Designed by Turpin Crawford Studio for City of Sydney, plan drawings were provided Event Engineering. Our job, while working at Big Kahuna Imagineering was to produce CAD models and production drawings for all components of the build. The project required major structural and fabrication considerations plus a number of innovative solutions all of which required designing, modelling and prototyping.

“An artwork at play: Three illuminated pendulum discs swing in a choreography of colour, light and movement. The installation is both interactive and performative. The discs are activated by pulling on ropes within the building at the below street level to create a kinetic performance in the ‘urban window’ of the East Sydney Community and Arts Centre above.” - turpin crawford studio

Public Artwork Design

Working with the other experts on this project was a highly impressive and technical feat. Breaking it down to every bolt and section gave a great depth of understanding for what is required for a such a work. Projects like these require a great coordination of talent and experience and it feels great to have been a contributor. Please get in touch if you have a large scale or public artwork project that requires design and consultation.
